Company background

The moving company Peter Niesen was founded in 1892. With the acquisition of H. Hagemann Möbeltransporte GmbH (Cologne), H. Blum Intern. Möbeltransporte GmbH (Bergisch-Gladbach) and Wiesel Intern. Möbeltransporte GmbH (Bonn), the NIESEN Group was established. For more details about the history of our company, see: Milestones.

Our company operates globally in the field of household moving and fine art transportation, focusing not only on the correct transportation but also on the appropriate storage of the items that have been entrusted to our care. Approximately 20,000 square metres of covered warehouse space is available with all kinds of fittings and equipment. Special mention should be made of the container warehouse with crane system, an air-conditioned storage facility and our high-rack storage. Naturally, all warehouses are fitted with security and fire alarm systems.

Transport is carried out by the company's own fleet of 45 trucks and 11 trailers. The fleet consists of small transporters, 7.5 ton trucks and even a crane vehicle. Depending on type, the trucks are equipped with temperature control, shock absorbers and tail lift. We are also in a position to transport 20' steel containers as well as swap bodies. Appropriate special equipment such as forklift trucks, outside elevators, trolleys and ramps are also available if required.

We have a well-trained and permanently employed workforce consisting of drivers, workers, packers and carpenters. We can also provide electricians, fitters, painters and air-conditioning specialists. Our members of staff receive on-going training on a regular basis in courses and training programmes (e.g. overseas packing) in order to meet the constantly increasing demands of customers. Because the special nature of overseas packing for overseas transportation requires a high level of experience, we only appoint experienced and appropriately qualified members of staff to work in this field. Customer satisfaction and constant quality prompted us to have our company certified according to DIN ISO 9001 in 1996.

Niesen is a founding member and owner of Deutsche Möbelspedition which embraces over 120 medium-sized moving companies throughout the country. This cooperation enables us to draw on the same partners throughout the country, partners who offer customers the same high quality as Niesen. To meet the demands of globalisation, we are a member of the European Moving Group, which enables us to work with reliable partners throughout Europe. For overseas business we are shareholder of DMS International. With this background, Niesen can provide full-service solutions.
Moving an office is just as unproblematic for Niesen as a complete company relocation including transportation of machines or computer equipment with interim storage. Container storage, air-conditioned storage or high-rack storage facilities are available for this purpose. The necessary special equipment such as forklift trucks, outside elevator, ramps or trolleys for files or computers are also available if needed. Niesen also stores files and offers a collection and delivery service.
